Certification Process

1. When the certification conditions are basically met, you can submit an application to the certification body, or submit an application in advance and prepare under the guidance of the certification body before the company submits the application.

2. Review and acceptance. The certification body reviews the application submitted by the company to check whether its content meets the basic requirements for certification. If it meets the requirements, it will be accepted. If it does not meet the requirements, the company will be notified that the application will not be accepted.
3. Initial visit. The social responsibility management system pays great attention to on-site performance. It is necessary to visit the audited party before the audit. The purpose of the initial visit is to determine the scope of the audit, understand the company's current situation, collect relevant information and determine the audit workload.
4. Signing a contract. The certification body and the client may sign a contract on the audit scope, audit criteria, audit report content, audit time, and audit workload, confirm a formal cooperative relationship, and pay the application fee.

5. Submit documents. After the contract is signed, the audited party shall provide the certification body with the social responsibility management manual, procedure documents and related background materials for the certification body to pre-examine the documents. After the contract is signed, the certification body shall designate an audit team leader, form an audit team, and start preparations.
7. Document pre-review: The audit team leader organizes the audit team members to conduct a document pre-review. If there are major problems with the social responsibility management documents, the audited party or the client will be notified and the audited party will modify and resubmit the documents. If there are no major problems with the documents, the formal review will be prepared.
8. Audit preparation. The audit team leader organizes the audit team members to formulate an audit plan, determine the audit scope and schedule, and prepare an on-site audit checklist.
9. Pre-examination. If the client deems it necessary, it may request the certification body to conduct a pre-examination before the formal certification audit, so as to take corrective measures in time and ensure that the formal audit is passed once.
10. Certification audit: The certification body shall conduct a certification audit on the audited party according to the audit plan.
11. Submit the audit report and conclusion. There may be three conclusions based on the audit results, namely, recommending registration, postponing registration, and temporarily suspending registration.
12. Technical Committee Review. For companies recommended by the audit team for registration, the certification body’s technical committee will review whether to approve the registration. If not approved, a new review is required.
13. Approval of registration: The certification body approves the registration of the company that has passed the review.
14. Issue the certification certificate. The certification body issues the SA8000 certification certificate to the approved registered company.
15. Announcement of the certified company. The certification body will file the certified company with SAI, which will announce it on the basic website.
16. Supervision and audit. The certification body conducts supervision and audit on the certified company every six months. The certification certificate is valid for three years and needs to be re-evaluated after three years.
