▌ Higg Certificate Scoring Rules

The Higg Index certified scoring system is designed to drive behavioral change, with the recognition that the score is a subjective indicator that can be improved in the future as more data, information and methodologies become available and/or evolve.

In the Higg Index certification, 2.0 points are assigned to each indicator question that, through a heuristic approach, may lead to the implementation of measures, decisions and practices that can improve sustainability outcomes.

Only add points, no deductions. Higg lndex does not use a deduction method, but awards points based on ideal behavior. Each module is scored independently.

In the Higg Index, there is no performance “value” for factory assessment scores (e.g., “gold” or “bronze” ranges). Centrally reported data is required. It is up to each organization to decide, such as “silver”, how to interpret a factory’s score.

Higg Facility Environmental Assessment Module (Higg FEM)

Higg FEM assesses the impact of a factory on the environment so that improvements can be made to reduce negative impacts. The module measures:

● Environmental Management System

● Energy use and greenhouse gas emissions

● Wastewater

● Emissions to air (if applicable)

● Waste management

● Chemical use and management

Higg Factory Social and Labour Assessment Module (Higg FSLM)

Higg FSLM assesses the social and labor conditions required by a factory, as well as the effectiveness of its social management program. This module measures:

● Recruitment and hiring

● Salary and benefits

● Health and safety

● Employee benefits

● Community Engagement

● Working hours

● Employee Engagement

● Labor standards required by factories and value chain partners

● External engagement with other factories or organizations on social and labor issues

● Management system

● Termination
