▌Walmart factory inspection consists of three parts

Walmart's factory inspection is divided into three parts: social responsibility factory inspection (ES factory inspection), quality factory inspection or also called capacity assessment (FCCA factory inspection), and counter-terrorism factory inspection (SCS factory inspection). ES factory inspection includes employee wages and working hours, labor conditions and benefits, management system, environmental protection, etc. The results of the social responsibility factory inspection are in the form of lights, which are divided into four types: red, orange, yellow and green.

Human Rights Factory Audit (ES):

The main inspections are human rights, factory protection and responsibility for workers, and responsibility for the environment. The main inspections include prohibiting the use of child labor, opposing discrimination and oppression of workers, prohibiting the use of prison labor, workers have freedom of association, and the payment of wages and working hours must meet the requirements of the International Labor Organization and Chinese labor laws and regulations. Requirements in health, safety, fire protection, etc., to ensure that the working environment of workers is conducive to escape and does not harm their health. In terms of the environment, the main inspections are whether the corresponding documents have been applied for according to legal requirements and whether the environmental protection facilities are operating normally. Ma's requirements are met.

Factory Quality Inspection (FCCA):

Wal-Mart-FCCA recognizes ISO, BRC, GMP, and QMS. Quality inspection is to review whether the factory's output and production capacity meet Wal-Mart's production capacity and quality requirements. The inspection mainly includes: infrastructure, quality control system, process control, final inspection, manufacturing and packaging, etc.

Counter-terrorism Factory Inspection (SCS):

Wal-Mart-SCS, SCAN.

The GSV/C-TPAT certification is a supply chain security audit that involves the factory's security, warehouse, packaging, loading, and shipping.

Wal-Mart factory inspection scoring standards

Social responsibility factory audit (ES factory audit) level classification: red, orange, yellow, green. Green light (no/minor violations will be reviewed within 2 years), yellow light (medium risk violations, 1 year review), orange light (high risk violations will be reviewed within 180 days), red light (very serious violations - child labor, forced/prison labor, corporal punishment, potentially life-threatening working conditions, illegal transportation - no longer cooperate)

Quality factory inspection/capacity assessment (FCCA factory inspection) classification: Wamart stipulates that 61 points or above are qualified, but based on the stricter requirements of some traders on factories, 76 points or above are generally required.

SCS factory inspection classification: Walmart stipulates that 71 points or above are qualified, and 88 points or above are valid for 2 years. Generally, independent factories or old standard industrial areas are more likely to get high scores because their physical security is better.

Certification Process

Wal-Mart review process

01. Pre-audit meeting

And confirm the factory's business license and materials submitted by the factory

After the auditors arrive at the factory, they will first meet with the factory manager, who will provide them with a completed factory questionnaire. At this stage, the auditors will also need to verify each

02. On-site audit

The auditors conduct a series of inspections on the on-site fire protection facilities, maintenance of machinery and equipment, ventilation and lighting in the work area, environmental protection work, etc. to ensure that the above items meet Walmart's audit standards.

03. Document review

The auditors will check the factory's documents and information according to Walmart's requirements, mainly including employee wage and working hour records, employee information, and other production records; all documents and information are required to be kept for the last 12 months, and the last 3 months must meet the requirements.

04.Employee Interview

Employee interviews should be conducted separately outside the production area, and the factory manager should provide a separate interview room. The factory manager or his representative must not be present during the interview. The number of interviewers should be no less than 15 and no more than 25. The specific number depends on the size of the factory. The interviewees should be representatives of male and female factory employees, selected from different departments of the factory. In addition, employees in key production positions should be selected. Generally, auditors will select interviewees when they visit the factory. For example, if some problems are found during the document review process, relevant employees can be invited for interviews at any time.

05. Audit summary meeting

The auditor issues an interim audit report summarizing the factory’s existing problems and areas for improvement. If necessary, a follow-up audit may be required, depending on the severity of the problem.

图片名称

Except for the seven audit companies that SMETA (SEDEX) only recognizes (ITS, BV, TUV Sud, SGS, UL, Elevate, AGC, those not on the list of approved audit companies, and the SEDEX/SEMTA audit reports issued by them are not recognized by Walmart), there are no restrictions on audit companies for other audit projects (BAP, EICC, ICTIWRAP, BSCI, BETTER WORK, SA8000)
