Forest verification is a process in which an independent third party verifies forest management in accordance with established standards. It is a tool that uses market mechanisms to promote sustainable forest management, including Forest Management Certification (FM) and Chain of Custody Certification (CoC).

Specification content

The main certification items of the authorized certification bodies are Forest Management (FM) and Chain of Custody (CoC). The method is to evaluate the forest management performance of regional and national standards according to the principles and standards of FSC, and is applicable to the level of forest management units. The two types of certification certificates issued by FSC are as follows:

(1) "Sustainable Forest Management (FM) Certificate"

It is issued to forest management and all organizations. Forest management certification mainly reviews forest management plans and actual operations. Forestry organizations must protect forest ecology, water quality, wildlife habitats and take into account the needs of local groups in order to meet strict certification standards. In addition, forestry organizations must also prove that their business models can be implemented in the long term in terms of economy and management, and must undergo regular supervision and assessment.

▌   Certification Label Description

The FSC label consists of three parts: FSC trademark, label name, and trademark license number. Each certification number starts with C - representing the certificate holder (Certificate Holder), followed by 6 digits.
